Keep friends, keep music, keep on being a kid

Having received an emotional boost during the wonderful Father’s Day celebration yesterday, I was reflecting during my morning bike ride to work on ways in which I could sustain my spirit and good mood. I recalled that around the time I graduated from my MBA studies I had launched a website called InspiredDay with the simple purpose of sharing inspiring thoughts. Pushing the pedals on the sunny morning ride, I thought to myself: “I already have this website; why not just post on it daily inspirations?” So, here it goes…

Keep on being a kid

During our Sunday hike at some point, fending off the heat, Sofia was pretending to be an ancient creature — a character from one of the fantasy stories she is always writing.

I asked that ancient creature to share any wisdom with us, humans… She thoughtfully replied in her imaginary accented English:

“Keep friends, keep musik, keep be kid.”

(or in my translation: “Keep friends, keep music, keep on being a kid”)

This totally aligns with one of the inspiring parenting thoughts I had shared yesterday:

“Adults are always asking little kids what they want to be when they grow up because they’re looking for ideas” ~ Paula Poundstone

Joy gives us wings!

So, here is to a new summer, and a new week ahead, a song full of joy, “Je Veux” by ZAZ:

… and an inspiring quote from a talk given by Abdu’l-Baha on the power of joy:

“Joy gives us wings! In times of joy our strength is more vital, our intellect keener, and our understanding less clouded. We seem better able to cope with the world and to find our sphere of usefulness.” ~ ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá, Paris Talks
