As the Christian world prepares to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let us reflect on the role of women in the life of that Manifestation of God — His mother Mary for giving Him life, and Mary Magdalene, for saving the Faith of His disciples — and the role of women in the world of today.
“The world of humanity is possessed of two wings: the male and the female. So long as these two wings are not equivalent in strength, the bird will not fly. Until womankind reaches the same degree as man, until she enjoys the same arena of activity, extraordinary attainment for humanity will not be realized; humanity cannot wing its way to heights of real attainment.
When the two wings . . . become equivalent in strength, enjoying the same prerogatives, the flight of man will be exceedingly lofty and extraordinary.” (Baha’i Faith, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá)
“Gender Equality and the Global Challenges of Today” Interfaith Prayer Station
Join us this Monday, December 28th, 2015, for an Interfaith Prayer Station and Spiritual Conversation on the theme “Gender Equality and the Global Challenges of Today“.
We’ll start at 7:00 pm with a healthy dinner and continue with an engaging discussion lead by Vasu Mohan who explores five unique teachings in the Bahai Faith on the equality of women & men that are extraordinarily powerful and critical to addressing global challenges. Whether you are a long-time Baha’i, a new believers or just curious about the Baha’i Faith, you will find these less-discussed facets of the Baha’i teachings absolutely fascinating and even life changing.
We will uplift and refresh our souls with inspiring musical selections and we’ll conclude with tea and sweets. We’ll also say prayers for anyone in need, so if you can’t join us and would like to request prayers — or if you need directions — please contact me.
Until then, enjoy the inspiring talk given by the actress and UN Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson during the HeForShe Special Event at United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 20, 2014, and consider adding your voice and deeds to the movement for gender equality.
