A dear friend of mine, Tony Joy, left this mortal world a year ago, soon after his labor of love — two books dedicated to discovering and exploring “Gleanings of the Writings of Baha’u’llah” — were published.
“Gleanings”, a carefully selected compilation of the Holy Words of the Divine Educator for this day and age, was one of the first Baha’i books I was given when first introduced to the Baha’i Faith. It has taken me years to glimpse its significance! Shoghi Effendi, having chosen the excerpts in “Gleanings” had advised that it “should be the continued guide and companion of every believer, especially those who are actively engaged in teaching the cause.”
Tony Joy’s life passion was sharing the teachings of the Baha’i Faith and, in particular, shedding light on the profound power and inspiration contained within the pages of “Gleanings”. What better way to commemorate one year since his passing than gathering together for prayers and reading of selected “Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah”?
Arlington Interfaith Prayer Station and Spiritual Conversation “Exploring Gleanings”
Join us this Monday, December 14th, 2015, for an Interfaith Prayer Station and Spiritual Conversation on the theme “Exploring Gleanings“.
We’ll start at 7:00 pm with a healthy dinner followed by readings of selected Holy Writings and Prayers. We have many books of prayers from different faith traditions but if you wish, feel free to bring your own prayers or inspiring writings. We will uplift and refresh our souls with inspiring musical selections and we’ll conclude with tea and sweets.
We’ll also say prayers for anyone in need, so if you can’t join us and would like to request prayers — or if you need directions — please contact me.
Until we meet, enjoy this meditative video about Baha’u’llah, the Messenger of a new divinely-ordained religion aiming to unify the whole world.
