“Preparing for the Advent” – Arlington Interfaith Prayer Station

Dear friends,

As the Christian world prepares for the Advent, let us reflect on what it is that we await expectantly? What might be our preconceived notions and what would ultimately determine if we are prepared for that which is to come…

“Know thou, of a truth,” He significantly affirms, “these great oppressions that have befallen the world are preparing it for the advent of the Most Great Justice.” “Say,” He again asserts, “He hath appeared with that Justice wherewith mankind hath been adorned, and yet the people are, for the most part, asleep.” “The light of men is Justice,” He moreover states, “Quench it not with the contrary winds of oppression and tyranny. The purpose of justice is the appearance of unity among men.”
~ Bahá’í FaithBaha’u’llah as quoted by Shoghi Effendi in “The Advent of Divine Justice

What nurtures your soul? What makes your heart tender? Prayer, music, fellowship, tea poured in peace, homemade banana bread baked with love and shared with a smile? Whatever the answer might be, sharing music and prayers with friends gets us all closer to the Creator.

Arlington Interfaith Prayer Station and Spiritual Conversation “Preparing for the Advent”

Join us this Monday, November 30th, 2015, for an Interfaith Prayer Station and Spiritual Conversation in Arlington on the theme “Preparing for the Advent“.

We’ll start at 7:00 pm with a healthy dinner followed by readings of selected Holy Writings and Prayers. We have many books of prayers from different faith traditions but if you wish, feel free to bring your own prayers or inspiring writings. We will uplift and refresh our souls with inspiring musical selections and we’ll conclude with tea and sweets.

We’ll also say prayers for anyone in need, so if you can’t join us and would like to request prayers — or if you need directions — please contact me.

Until we meet, enjoy this beautiful song “L’opportunité de servir/The Opportunity to Serve” performed by the Baha’i youth of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo which before long will have its own national Baha’i House of Worship!

Here are the lyrics in French and the English translation, courtesy of the remarkable Baha’i Blog from Australia:

Ce monde est rempli des calamites, et préjugés, inégalités, médisances et mensonges.
Alors jeunes du monde, profitons pour marquer le temps pour l’avenir de demain;
Il suffit d’un geste, un acte et notre bonne volonté;
Tout peut changer !
Refrain: L’opportunité de servir, saisissons cette chance;

This world is full of calamities and prejudices, inequalities, slander and lies.
While youth of the world, take the opportunity to mark time for the future of tomorrow;
Just a gesture, an act and goodwill;
Everything can change!
Chorus: The opportunity to serve, seize this opportunity.
