Arlington Interfaith Prayer Station “Patience”

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
~ Christianity, James 1:2-4

O ye who believe! be patient and vie in patience, and be firm, and fear God, that it may be well with you.

THE VALLEY OF SEARCH
The steed of this Valley is patience; without patience the wayfarer on this journey will reach nowhere and attain no goal.
~ Bahá’u’lláhThe Seven Valleys

Dear friends,

What nurtures your soul? What makes your heart tender? Prayer, spiritual conversation, music, fellowship, tea poured in peace, refreshments shared with smile? Whatever the answer might be, sharing prayers and inspiration with friends gets us all closer to the Creator and recharges us for the week ahead.

This Sunday, September 21st 2014, we invite you and your loves ones to an Interfaith Prayer Station and Spiritual Conversation in Arlington on the theme of “Patience“.

We’ll start at 7:30 pm with light refreshments followed by reading, at 8:00 pm, of selected Holy Writings and Prayers. We have many books of prayers from different faith traditions but if you wish, feel free to bring your own prayers or inspiring writings. We will uplift and refresh our souls with inspiring musical selections and we’ll conclude with tea and sweets.

We’ll also say prayers for anyone in need, so if you can’t join us and would like to request prayers please, contact me. Please let me know if you plan on coming so I can plan the refreshments!

Until then, enjoy the beautiful song “Patience”, composed and performed by Kelly Snook, and based on a prayer by Bahiyyih Khanum.

O kind Lord! O Comforter of anguished hearts!

Send down Thy mercy upon us, and Thy grace, bestow upon us patience, give us the strength to endure. With Thy generous hand, lay Thou a balm upon our sores, grant us a medicine for this never-healing woe. Console Thou Thy loved ones, comfort Thy friends and handmaids, heal Thou our wounded breasts, and with Thy bounty’s remedy, restore our festering hearts.

With the gentle breeze of Thy compassion, make fresh and green again these boughs, withered by autumn blasts; restore Thou to flourishing life these flowers, shrivelled by the blight of bereavement.

With tidings of the Abha Paradise, wed Thou our souls to joy, and rejoice Thou our spirits with heartening voices from the dwellers in the realm of glory.

Thou art the Bounteous, Thou art the Clement; Thou art the Bestower, the Loving.
