Prayer Station Invitation: “Reflection”

Like a thoroughbred horse touched by the whip, be strenuous and determined. Then you will be able to rid yourself of this great suffering by means of faith, morality, energetic behaviour, stillness of mind and reflection on the teaching, after you have become full of wisdom, good habits and recollection.
(Buddhism, Dhammapada – Sayings of the Buddha)

Thus have We sent down to thee an Arabic Koran, and have set forth menaces therein diversely, that haply they may fear God, or that it may give birth to reflection in them.
(Islam, The Qur’an, Sura 20)

One hour’s reflection is preferable to seventy years of pious worship.
(Baha’i Faith, Baha’u’llah, The Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 237)

Dear friends!

ReflectionWhat nurtures your soul? What makes your heart tender? Prayer, music, fellowship, tea poured in peace, homemade banana bread baked with love and shared with a smile? Whatever the answer might be, sharing prayers with friends gets us all closer to the Creator.

This Thursday, May 12th, I invite you and your loves ones to an interfaith Prayer Station in Arlington on the theme of “Reflection”. We’ll start at 8 pm with reading of selected Holy Writings and Prayers from different faith traditions. Feel free to bring your own books of prayer or inspirational poetry. We’ll also uplift and refresh our souls with music, and we’ll conclude with tea and sweets. We’ll also say prayers for anyone in need, so if you can’t join us and would like to request prayers please contact me.
